Christian Santilli is the Co-Program Director at Tharros House. He started his recovery journey atan inpatient, recovery program, outside of his hometown of Philadelphia. He spent13 months in the Tharros community, giving him a unique ability to relate to theclients he works with. He worked as an actor and teacher in theBoston area before finding a passion for working with other recovering addicts andalcoholics. Inside of his work at Tharros House, he has found the empathicconnection and capacity for change he was always looking for in acting.

Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive community, combining individual and group interactions to facilitate building a meaningful life in sobriety. Successful long-term recovery is more than just abstinence from substances it’s a lifestyle change; replacing negative or unhealthy behaviors/patterns with positive coping skills, healthy routines, community and support. We believe life balance, structure, engagement, social interactions, positive perception and challenging old behaviors/beliefs are the key to a successful recovery. We support all paths to recovery and assist our clients to build a foundation for independence and a successful transition.

Tharros offers an extensive and flexible peer support program to helps clients navigate important changes and decisions. Our team provides support to ongoing clinical work as part of that process. At Tharros, we offer semi-private to fully private ensuite accommodation.

Q: I MAY NOT HAVE A CAR DURING MY STAY AT SOBER LIVING. WILL I BE ABLE TO RECEIVE TRANSPORTATION?

Peer to peer support is an essential component of recovery and The Tharros House only accepts residents who have made a commitment to giving recovery a chance; we work together as a community to overcome the challenges in early recovery. At Teras, clients work with their on-site case manager and our vocational coach to develop a recovery fellowship and engage work. Clients of Teras may also be involved in outpatient treatment while they develop a foundation in their recovery work, and apply to work positions.

Whether you’ve just completed a drug detox, alcohol rehab, or any other kind of substance abuse treatment, we know recovery takes time and we know that you’re worth it. Whatever your primary treatment method, you’ve had a great start because your body is now free of alcohol and drugs. We want to help you transition to a fulfilled and enjoyable life in sobriety. We have experience helping clients achieve success and every decision we’ve made in the development and management of Tharros House centers around your success.

That study found that freestanding SLH’s offer enough structure, with no formal treatment, creating an optimal environment for residents ready for the next step. SLH’s provide an environment for individuals capable of handling a fair amount of autonomy and wish to take personal responsibility for their recovery. Teras is located two miles away from Tharros (both Tharros and Teras are in Lexington MA). This less structured residence is designed to support clients when they have 25+ hours of work or other outside structure weekly, which can be developed with assistance from our team, in the first 30 days.

We have the sole goal of connecting you with the providers who will help you the most -­ Period. A sober living home creates fellowship and community that can help you get back to a life where you are happy and fulfilled. The proper support, combined with a safe environment and first hand know-how will guide you to experience a new way of being and behaving. A sober living environment reinforces honesty and integrity as it supports you on your journey to acquiring a great new lifestyle.

Our experience has been that once our clients arrive at Tharros House, they understand and feel the benefits. You are not locked in to any long term agreements, but we do ask that you come planning to stay for at least 60 days. After your initial period at Tharros, you may wish to explore our less structured home, Teras. Not all sober living homes are the same and in fact beyond the differences in “amenities”, there are many other important factors to consider. The road to recovery from alcoholism and addiction requires significant emotional, behavioral, and intellectual changes.
